General Information
California State University, Bakersfield operates a branch campus in the
Antelope Valley on the northeast corner of Antelope Valley College (AVC,
J-8 and 30th St West). The campus provides the residents of the Greater
Antelope Valley academic degree programs leading to a Bachelor degree
in a number of disciplines, and the ability to obtain a Master’s degree in a
few areas, without leaving the community. This cooperative arrangement
between two segments of California’s public higher education system
enables students who complete an Associate of Arts or Associate of
Science program at a community college to continue their academic
studies at state resident rates. All programs offered at CSUB AV are fully
accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and are
an integral part of the curricula of California State University, Bakersfield.
At CSUB AV you can “Stay Near, Go Far!”
Admission Procedures and Policies at
CSUB Antelope Valley (CSUB AV)
Students interested in attending CSUB Antelope Valley to pursue a
degree program must apply for admission online atcalstate.edu/apply
(https://www.calstate.edu/apply/), pay the application fee, submit official
transcripts from all previously attempted college work, and in some
cases, submit official high school transcripts with ACT or SAT scores.
Once you are admitted to CSUB AV, you will meet with an advisor and
attend an orientation session prior to being allowed to register for
classes. Although the Records Office at the Bakersfield site of CSUB is
responsible for the registration process and academic record keeping,
you will register using online systems. This means that you must have all
prerequisites officially recorded for any course you request. The CSUB AV
Front Desk and Advising staff is available for students having registration
questions or problems.
Students may access their myCSUB on the campus web site
(www.csub.edu (http://www.csub.edu/)) to obtain information about
status of the application for admission, financial aid, class registration,
billing for fees, and review of final grades by using the same set of
procedures and menus used for online registration.
