Adams County Food Pantry/FoodShare
The Adams County Food Pantry, located in Friendship, WI, is a great place to begin when
searching for food assistance in Adams County. They keep a variety of food items in stock,
as well as offer free or affordable toiletries and entertainment materials such as
magazines. The food pantry also assists in enrolling people in the FoodShare program,
which is a program designed to help those living on a low or fixed income purchase food
from other grocery stores and farmers' markets.

“Mauston High School is the new location for Mauston Sharing Supper for the community.
Individuals and families in need can receive a free meal. Other services to help out will be
on location.”
“The Mauston Sharing Supper is just one of the many ways the School District of Mauston
works for the betterment of our community. The Sharing Supper is held on the last
Thursday of every month and usually goes from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm. It is free to all Mauston

Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin
The Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin hosts a mobile food pantry that
moves around different counties and cities throughout the state. They provide a calendar
with dates and locations for each event. One of the counties that they serve is Adams
County, offering assistance to those in need across Wisconsin.

The pantry runs for about an hour or until they run out of food, whichever comes
first.
No identification or proof of residence is necessary. Everyone in need is welcome.
“We are following COVID safety guidelines and ask that you stay in your car with

walking, you will be able to self-load your food.”
Each household will receive 60 pounds of food per month.

Wisconsin Dells Community Food Pantry
The Wisconsin Dells Community Food Pantry is offering its services to individuals who live
within the Wisconsin Dells school district. The pantry is located at the Central Wisconsin
Community Action Center office, which is also a resource for other needs, including
housing and bill assistance.

"This program provides one-time assistance to households generally rent. This program
actually combines different funding sources including Emergency Food & Shelter Program,
National Exchange Bank, Salvation Army, and United Way. Client applications are reviewed

The Foundation for Rural Housing, which serves 69 counties in Wisconsin, offers various
services including rent assistance, mortgage assistance, utility and property tax assistance,
and security deposit assistance. Please note that there are many specific criteria that an

"Renewal Unlimited’s Homeless Prevention Program assists low- to moderate-income

Important Information:
Please talk to the Housing Case Manager (info listed above) to fill out a general
intake application.
The Emergency Solutions Grant and Homeless Prevention Program have been
designed for households with low to moderate income with long-term residential
assistance of up to 12 months, eviction prevention, and utility assistance.
Assistance is provided in the form of a grant, or 0% interest loan.
The loan is to be paid back using an affordable payment plan, which is set up
between the recipient and Renewal Unlimited, Inc.

River Haven Homeless Shelter
"River Haven Homeless Shelter is located in Portage, WI, and provides shelter to homeless
individuals and families. It is comprised of two shelters, one to serve single men and the
other for single women and families. The mission of River Haven is to provide safe,
temporary shelter to qualifying homeless individuals and families while providing them
with guidance and connecting them to community resources to promote their
independence. We also provide information about resources, social service agencies and
managed guidance/support to make occupants take accountability for their future. Our

They have two shelters: one for single men, one for single women and families.
Each house is also staffed by a House Assistant from 5:00 pm - 8:00 am.

The Forward Service Corporation's Emergency Assistance Program aids families who are at
risk of losing their housing. They help pay their mortgages, as well as assist in security
deposits and keeping utilities from being shut off.

They offer financial assistance for those who cannot afford their rent or mortgage.
They also have assistance for those who received an eviction notice or foreclosure
notice.
“We help families make a first month’s payment or pay their security deposit, so
they can move into a safe home. If you are living in a shelter or temporary living
place, have left your home due to domestic violence, or have lost your home to fire,
flood, or natural disaster, please contact us.”
Additionally, they aid those who have heat and/or electricity bills that are past due,
received a disconnect notice for their utilities, or have already had their utilities shut
off.
They may be able to help you make a payment.

Enhanced Skills Program CWCAC
"In November 2005 we entered into a contract with the Department of Workforce
Development to increase the income and economic self-sufficiency of working poor
households by helping adult members acquire the skills needed to obtain higher paying

Mid-State Technical College, located in Adams, WI, provides academic resources to aid in
success. The LiNK Program, specifically, offers free help getting your GED/HSED and

Individuals looking to complete their GED/HSED, as well as go on to pursue higher
education, can enroll at Western Technical College. They have two campuses in the Adams
County area, one located in Mauston and the other located in Tomah. GED/HSED testing is
only available at the Tomah Campus.

"UMOS’ Transitional Jobs programming helps eligible participants progress from

to help residents get the training and education to launch careers in local industries.
