If a customer has set up an Android OS phone to store messages to the “Cloud”,
the content is available. This service is called AT&T Messaging. Content retention is
controlled by the customer, meaning AT&T will only retain what the customer has
not deleted.
If a customer is using an iPhone, the legal demand will need to be sent to Apple.
AT&T does not have any control over those records. Apple might retain message
content in iCloud in an encrypted format.

Call Detail Records - CDR’s (Voice only) are kept for 18 Months; the records will
then be archived and can be retrieved for a fee. Sprint is currently charging $312
per day of records requested. Be sure to put the verbiage “Requesting Tape Back-
Up” records in the legal demand; so, Sprint will know that archived messages are
being requested.
