If you are interested in going on a
free trip to Japan this summer, this could be
your lucky day! UMSL is sending ten 7th-
12th graders to Japan in July 2014.

MU’s Mini Medical School
Exciting and informative summer experience
for high schoolers interested in a career in
medicine. MU’s High School Mini Medical
School is a one week program that gives
students a preview of life as an MU medical
student. The program includes: hands-on
experience in anatomy, microbiology and
clinical skills; introduction to MU’s innovative
patient-based learning curriculum and seminars.
Interested high school juniors are invited
to apply on the website, and the application
deadline is March 1, 2014. See Ms. Kelly.

study that focuses on engineering, technology,
design or business, with an interest in the

Career Explorers Diversity Outreach Program
Requirements: cumulative 3.0 GPA, 16 years old;
current sophomore or junior, deadline is March 7.
WashU - College Prep Program
Looking for highly motivated ninth grade students
to participate in a three-year program that includes
a summer residential experience on the Washing-
ton University campus. This is FREE (no finan-
cial obligation for students or families) and is
designed to help talented high school students
with limited financial resources succeed at selec-
tive colleges. Priority will be given to participants
who will be first-generation college students.
Douglass Alumni Association Scholarship
Requirements: senior who is a descendant of any
person who attended Douglass Elementary or
Douglass High School that was previously located
in Webster Groves, deadline is March 14, 2014.

Thanks to his incredible
community partnerships, Ray
Parks was able to get $3000
worth of point shoes for about
$200.This will allow our
dance students to take part in
point ballet to round out their outstanding dance training.
Ceramic Class Potter’s Wheel Demonstration
Last month Mr. Kmetz’s
Ceramics class was treated to
a demonstration on a Potter’s
Wheel. His students will
begin a unit on the wheel this
semester.

Teach for America Ice Skating Event
On Saturday, January 11, Ms. Rowntree invited
two of her students to join her at Steinberg Skat-
ing Rink for a morning of fun. Ms. Rowntree:
We had a great morning skating, drinking
hot cocoa and meeting students from other
schools.”
